Terror Hoax suspect?

October 18th, 2005 . by Tom

This headline really got my attention on the CNN website this morning. I figured it had to be a misprint and they really meant Washington D.C.

Terror hoax suspect arrested in Mexico

A man accused of making a phony threat of a nuclear attack on Boston earlier this year has been arrested in Mexico, authorities said Monday.

The scare in January prompted authorities to alert the public and to increase security at the airport and on the subway. Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney skipped President Bush’s inauguration to return to Boston. Within days, the FBI called it a false alarm.

OK, call me a literalist but if it is a crime to perpetrate a hoax which claims a threat of a terror attack then shouldn’t George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condi Rice, Paul Wolfowitz and a host of right wing talking heads all be sitting in jail right now?

I mean c’mon, isn’t the very crime this guy is accused of, making a phony threat of a nuclear attack, exactly what George, Dick, Condi, Paul, et al spent most of 2002-2003 doing? (and quite frankly continue to do at every opportunity with whatever threat is most “popular” at the moment)
