The man really is an idiot
August 24th, 2005 . by TomFrom today’s NYTimes. Not only is this guy living in a bubble but it’s also full of helium, or nitrous oxide.
President Bush told thousands of National Guard members and their families on Wednesday that an immediate withdrawal of American troops from Iraq would only embolden terrorists and make America and its allies more vulnerable to attack.
Defending his administration’s military stance for the third day in a row, he presented another tough, if implicit, rebuttal to war critics like Cindy Sheehan, the mother of an American soldier killed in Iraq who has generated a monthlong protest outside his Texas ranch. Mr. Bush said, “As long as I’m the president, we will stay, we will fight and we will win the war on terror.”
The president said withdrawing troops now - as Ms. Sheehan advocates - would “only embolden the terrorists and create a staging ground to launch more attacks against America and free nations.”
Such a position is lunacy of course. As I’ve pointed out before (here and here) no one single world leader has done more to embolden terrorists, provide them with fresh recruits and help them toward their goal of more Islamic States in the world than George W. Bush. No wonder bin Laden has bad kidneys, he must spend every night toasting the bush regime with expensive champagne.
Not only that, long after everyone except the Easter Bunny, Fox Network and Rush Limbaugh knew that Iraq had nothing to do with terror, or 9/11, or WMD or now apparently even modern democracy, bush is still trotting out the soundbyte “win the war on terror” because it is literally the only thing he has left.
Once this whole mess collapses down around his ears and onto our heads I picture him sitting in his little cubicle on Elba or wherever a World Criminal Court decides to send him, clicking his little silver balls in his hand like Captain Queeg and muttering “win the war on terror, win the war on terror” like a mantra, hoping the tooth fairy will come and rescue him.
